Real rough afrobeat from Lagos
Founded in 2020 by Singer, Saxophonist ADETUNJI ADEYEMI under the name « The Lagos Thugs Afrobeat », the band based in Nigeria performed for the first time on 29 January 2021 at the Bature Brewery in Lagos during a musical evening organised by the famous Nigerian trumpet player Etuk Ubong The band started with 13 musicians, reduced now to 11 members, on tour outside of Africa they will be 7 members including band leader Adetunji Adeyemi.
Lagos Thugs have been touring Nigerian Jazz Festivals, chosen as the opening band for many of Seun Kuti’s gigs from The Shrine to The Alliance Francaise. After winnig the MOP Award , they met with Amayo & Antibalas in Nigeria during the ADETUNJI ADEYEMI Felabration. .The Brooklyn based band was so impressed with their music that they decided to feature Lagos Thugs in the upcoming Netflix Antibalas documentary, they did interviews and you will also l see live footage of the band.

“Innocent Blood Is one of the best contemporary Afrotunes I’ve heard lately! Absolutely tasty harmonies, great songwriting and also construction of the 12-minute tune. The song really hypnotizes you and pulls you in the longer it runs. This one could go on endlessly… too bad it’s already over after 12 minutes ;) With the voice of the singer you get pure goosebumps. Also super nice embedded in the background vocals..“
