Oumy
The Artist, The Activist, The Voice of the Sahel
An award-winning singer-songwriter and rapper, Oumy is one of Senegal’s most authentic global cultural figures. Her music blends the raw power of hip-hop with the elegance of African R&B and the energy of global pop, creating songs that transcend languages and generations.
More than just an artist, OUMY is an influential ambassador who uses her art to support important causes, including climate change, local development, and gender equality.
OUMY’s commitment is rooted in concrete actions. She is the founder of FEM’ART and created the 48H DE BARGNY festival. This annual musical and social event aims to provide solutions and training for young people and women, and to contribute to the development of her community. Bargny, her hometown, is a key location threatened by coastal erosion and impacted by industrial pollution (cement factory, coal-fired power plant). The festival brings the community to life every December for 48 hours, combining music and social engagement to highlight these issues.
